Conduit of Hope is a non-profit organization seeking to assist young adults all over the world in rising above their environment and affecting their community is a positive way. After I designed their logo, I was contacted again to give their web presence a similar makeover.

The goal was to create a web site that would extend the hope and optimism of their current identity while providing an easy-to-use, usable resource for those interested in the program. The site also had to be maintained by the organization and created within a modest budget.

I extended the sky of the logo (usually contained by a rectangle) to the full browser width and lightened all font colors, giving the site a vaguely spiritual, “reach for the sky” aesthetic. To keep costs down, I utilized only open source or free-for-non-profit technologies: the site was created for and is maintained by the excellent open source content management system Wordpress, and the photo galleries were created using the Highslide JavaScript effect and a heavily edited version of the NextGEN gallery plugin for Wordpress.
